We caught up with Ashley Jones from The Little Hall Lavenham, to find out more about their company and exhibiting at the British Tourism & Travel Show.
Tell us a bit about your organisation:
Set in the heart of Historic Lavenham, one of Britain’s best preserved medieval villages, is the Little Hall, a substantial domestic property built about 1390. This wonderfully restored building is open for groups year-round (by appointment) and to FITs from March to November. The Gayer-Anderson twins who restored the property in the 1930s were avid collectors of art and artefacts, particularly from Egypt, Persia and India. Much of their collection was bequeathed to the British and Fitzwilliam Museum, as well as other national institutions, but much of the rest of it remains in the collection remains including important Hindu and Islamic items.
Lavenham is a delightful village for a day trip, with beautiful medieval buildings lining the streets, pubs, shop and tea rooms, as well as a stunning church (celebrating 500 years of the completion of its rebuilding in 2025 with the events programme available HERE) and the Guild Hall run by the National Trust. It is to be found just 12 miles south of Bury St Edmunds and the A14, and 8 miles north of Sudbury, the birthplace of Thomas Gainsborough, and nearby Constable country.

Within the Little Hall a number of events are held each year, most notably our famous craft fairs which take place in May and November. This year our Spring Fair will take place from 23-26 May to coincide with the Tudor Fair in the village which is on the 24 May. Our Christmas Fair will take place on 22-23 November, just in time to provide inspiration for those unique Christmas gifts! During these events entry to the Little Hall is free. We are also participating in the programme of events which will mark the 500th anniversary of the completion of the rebuilding of the famous church in Lavenham.
