We catch up with Ginette Goulston-Lincoln from Strawberry Field, Liverpool to find out more about their company and exhibiting at the British Tourism & Travel Show.
Tell us a bit about your company:
Strawberry Field, Liverpool, the award-winning heritage site and community attraction forever linked to John Lennon, is a place to explore, unwind and dream. It is home to an interactive exhibition complete with a media guide in multiple languages, which tells the interweaving history of the site’s original children’s home, the Salvation Army, John Lennon’s childhood and the writing and recording of his celebrated song, Strawberry Fields Forever.
A highlight is the actual upright Steinway piano on which John Lennon composed and recorded the peace anthem Imagine. The piano is on long-term loan from the Estate of the late George Michael.
The historic gardens, where John Lennon found solace as a child and which are home to the original iconic red gates, are a peaceful leafy oasis for visitors looking to relax in nature away from the bustle of the city streets.
Strawberry Field is aiming to be the UK’s Number 1 attraction for accessibility with inclusivity at the forefront of its vision, thanks to a series of upgraded and innovative features adaptations such as guided tours, tactile exhibition features, use of colour, layout and a Changing Places toilet facility.
The Imagine More Cafe provides both indoor and outdoor seating and serves dishes made with locally sourced ingredients. The shop has a great range of unique merchandise.
Strawberry Field has well-being, community and responsible tourism at its heart and all profits go towards funding the Steps at Strawberry Field programmes, which support local adults with learning difficulties and other barriers, helping them to gain access to employment skills, work experience and ultimately paid employment.

We’re excited to welcome more visitors than ever to Strawberry Field this year as Liverpool hosts the Eurovision Song Contest 2023. The slogan is ‘United by Music’ and what better way to celebrate Liverpool’s rich musical history than exploring the story behind John Lennon’s history at Strawberry Field, The Salvation Army and the valuable work with young people which continues the legacy today. Your tour will take you through the interactive exhibition, taking in John Lennon’s authentic ‘Imagine’ piano, and you will hear the stories behind the pictures on display which are usually untold.
Music returns to the gardens of Strawberry Field with the new ‘Strawberry Field Forever bandstand, opening in 2023. As Beatles fans may spot, the technologically advanced bandstand is based on the drum featured on The Beatles’ iconic album cover, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.
King Charles III coronation takes place on 6th May 2023 and at Strawberry Field, we are planning live music and activities in our gardens and putting on a special Coronation menu in our Imagine More café.
